The American icon chevy corvette is a rear-wheel drive, two-seat sports car that was introduced in 1953. It has been constantly evolving for the past 57 years of continuous production. It has little domestic competition, however the Nissan GT-R and 370Z can be considered competitors in terms of performance and price. There have been six generations of the Corvette, the 1953 first generation model had solid rear axles and inline six cylinder engines, the second generation marketed in 1963 had an independent rear suspension and 360 horsepower. The third generation, the longest running with thirteen years was introduced in 1968 and had a fender flared body and the fourth generation corvette came completely redesigned with modern design and digital instruments but the same engine.

The fifth generation car introduced in 1997 had much improved quality, more performance, major upgrades and better handling. The present sixth generation corvette has new body work and a far more improved suspension and 400 horsepower. Its 6.2 litre V-8 LS3 engine has a 430 horsepower, a few other modes also have 505 horsepower and a 2008 model has 638 horsepower. The Grand Sport version has upgraded brakes and a unique bodywork and high performance. Some of the conveniences include the availability of Bluetooth, six speed manual and a leather interior.
